Mary McDonnell

 Mary Eileen McDonnell, born April 28th, 1952 is an American actress who appears on the stage, on television and in film. Her parts in Dances with Wolves, Stands With A Fist and Passion Fish brought her Academy Award nominations. McDonnell is best known for her roles as First Lady Marilyn Whitmore in Independence Day and President Laura Roslin on Battlestar Galactica. McDonnell was a character in Captain Sharon Raydor on seasons 5-7 of TNT's show The Closer. She also played in Major Crimes, the spin-off series that airs on TNT's network, as the Commander Sharon Raydor.
